Welcome to Volume 12!
After twelve years of production, Pitch has expanded its team offer an inclusive space for undergraduate artists, writers, and creatives to showcase their work. We showcase work in fiction, poetry, nonfiction, photography, fine art, and choreography.
In this issue, we're pleased to continue the tradition of our collaborative art and writing exchange with a new theme: AM, PM. During the exchange, students worked in anonymous pairs to create a visual and written dialogue related to the theme of day and night. Our editorial team celebrated this project by curating the third print volume of niche: a tiny journal of arts and literature.
In our 12th volume, we also feature interviews with poet Eduardo C. Corral, author of Slow Lightning and Guillotine, and nonfiction writer Hawa Allan, author of Insurrection: Rebellion, Civil Rights, and the Paradoxical State of Black Citizenship, as a part of Cedar Crest College’s 2021-2022 Visiting Writer Series.
Pitch held two in-person open-mic events this year to give students a platform to share their work. In February, we held our first ever generative writing workshop, in conjunction with our second open-mic night of the year, to encourage writers from all backgrounds on campus to practice their craft in a safe environment as well as learn writing tips and tricks from our editorial team.
On our Instagram, we post various writing and photo prompts, along with weekly book recommendations from our editors as a platform to share books we are passionate about. Check it out!
