For Teddy

Annie Elizabeth Kreiser

You’re the pebble in my pocket

You’re the sunshine in December

What others might forget

I know you will still remember

I love the way you found me

And the way you hold my hands

When there’s no one else around me

You’re the one who understands

When I’m in need of solace

You’re the one I have to call

Even if it’s late you promise

That you don’t mind at all

So when I’m old and gray

And it’s hard for you to hear

I’ll lean in very close and say

I always want you near

Because of every place I’ve ever been

My favorite one is with my twin
