I Find Myself Wandering
by Isabel Sandone
Artwork by Carlie Gausch
i find myself wandering the streets
once again
wet from the midnight rain
by myself lyrics in my head
twirling around every corner
until i find a lit-up window
bodies move synchronized
vibrations run through the ground
the door opens
for me
i enter
quickly pulled into dance
sweat running down my body
as i’m stuck between everyone
she’s a flash at first
but as i stop spinning i see her clearly
she’s beautiful
everyone disappears
until it’s her and i
her lips form a smile
that cause an ecstasy in itself
we’re next to each other
and her hands on my curves
hours go by as we explore each other
and i’ve never been happier
just as quick as it started
it ends
glass forms between us
and i can no longer feel her
she begins to turn to ash
and is swept away
i wake up
and realize it was all a dream
because love never happens
for someone like me
