Magic Hour

i fell for you
under a tree
enraptured in the circle
of me
while you walked down the stream
although i couldn’t see it
your eyes followed me
beneath all the moss and leaves
all that greenery
filigree
i breathed a silent prayer
you couldn’t see
in the shade among the branches
i wanted you to want me
instead
of the wilderness ahead
to look at me the way
peter pan did
before leaving
wendy
ignore the creatures residing in the lake
see my reflection and wait
i’m stuck under that tree
we past a mile east
my fingers touching the breeze
i’m counting to ten
my spirit at unease
waiting for a miracle to happen
