Moon
by Tara Tevald
My Dear,
It’s been nearly a month since I have last seen your face
I’ve missed you on those long nights,
Those dreary skies and pouring rains that keep you from me.
When I can only hope to see glimpses of you in dreams.
But tonight we’ll meet again,
The skies are clear, soon the stars will be out.
And I’ll give you the song I’ve held in my chest,
The manifestation of this primal urge I’ve had
To be with you once more, to run free with you
Since the morning you left me.
You, the light of my life,
Never answer my calls, never applaud my serenades,
But I know that you hear each and every one.
I don’t ask much of you,
Except to continue to light up the dark with your brilliance.
But who am I to ask the Moon when she should shine?
Still, I miss you.
I’ll be glad to see you again tonight,
To break away from my day-to-day.
Without you, life is commute after commute,
Meeting after meeting,
And I ache for you once more.
You, my moonlight, set me free.
Yours, The Werewolf
