Fairy Lights at Night

Rose Ross

i was never one to believe

fairies could fly at night

and run away with my dreams

leaving in their place realities

i never thought i’d need

angels in disguise

sprites of a celestial light

collapsed in a space and time where there is no you and i

only i cry at night

because i know the sun will dry my eyes

string of stars

i cross my heart

fairies fly away to find a new peace of mind

silence underneath

i never fall asleep without you

twinkle of stars in the night

i want you by my side

even if

it means you’ll disappear in the daylight

like magic

fairy dust in the sheets

leave me with proof it's not a dream

everything isn’t exactly how it seems

in the morning

i finally

realize
