Polaroid Love

Juliana Wall

I let you go

as the shutter

clicked. Your breath

reincarnated within

 the mirror’s sensor.

I look through the

viewfinder and see

a smile crystalized

in the reflective glass.

I capture couples

In framed sequence.

Developed filmstrips

reveal barefoot brides

 And belly laughter.

Held to light,

They hold true.

A lifetime together.

On the day

They say” I do”

We once looked

similar with plans

of our own.

But, as the seasons

changed, so did your mind.

Our aperture now

underexposed.

We lost ourselves

within the shadows.

Smashed words

And cracked oaths.

Our love fractured

while your Polaroid

smile collects dust.
