Strange Alien
by Kathleen Peplow
Red and blue.
An iconic duo.
The fluttering of a red cape.
The sturdiness of a blue suit.
The ‘S’ symbolizes one family.
The house of El, one noble house.
The ruling house from a long dead planet,
scattered across space from an implosion that killed an entire species.
A dead planet that had basked in the hues of a red sun.
A dead planet with minds meant for science, not survival.
The survival of a planet resting on one alien’s shoulders.
Shoulders with secrets of a culture he barely remembers.
The only alien to survive was just a baby.
But one wrong move exposes every secret of a strange alien.
The enhanced hearing,
constant sound that doesn’t allow for a moment of calm.
The super strength,
being able to snap a bone without effort.
One hero that fell onto a whole new planet.
A world meant as a safe heaven,
but a world that needed saving.
Diving down to carry a yellow bus to safety.
Stopping a bullet with the flick of a wrist.
Surviving the destruction of one planet,
to stop the death of another.
